We are delighted to announce that Alicja Wiktoria Stoklosa has been appointed as the new Director of the GEORG Geothermal Research Cluster.
Alicja brings over a decade of experience in advancing geothermal energy through international cooperation, strategic project management, and innovation-driven policy work. With a solid track record of implementing and leading EU-funded projects under Horizon 2020, the EEA & Norway Grants, and other European frameworks, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening Iceland’s position in the global geothermal landscape.
As GEORG’s Office Manager since 2015, Alicja has driven forward initiatives focused on energy transition, capacity building, and the international promotion of Icelandic geothermal expertise. She has cultivated strong collaborations with global partners, including the U.S. Department of Energy, Project Management Jülich in Germany, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency in the Netherlands, Polish institutions such as the Ministry of Climate and Environment and MEERI PAS, the Environment and Energy Agency of Iceland and many more.
Alicja holds a BSc in Environmental Engineering (2008) and earned her MSc in Renewable Energy Science in 2011 from RES – The School for Renewable Energy Science, affiliated with the University of Akureyri and the University of Iceland. She is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at Reykjavík University. She is also a U.S. State Department YTILI Fellow and a member of the Steering Committee of the European Technology and Innovation Platform on Geothermal (ETIP-Geothermal).
Her leadership, strategic mindset, and passion for inclusive innovation make her suited to guide GEORG into its next chapter, fostering research excellence, industry collaboration, and international partnerships for a more sustainable energy future.
